Winters of past

I was just reflecting on a previous winter when Justin and I traveled a little west of Chicago. We traveled to Starved Rock State Park. When we arrived we were blown away by some of the massive frozen waterfalls that graced the side of the valley walls. We parked the car abruptly at the entrance to begin shooting photos. Our adventure had begun.

We noticed that a lot of people were slowing down to speculate what we were doing in a somewhat confused manner. After we were done with our first exciting adventure we packed up our camera equipment and actually made it fully into the state park. We found out why we were getting wierd looks. There were many signs that stated to stay on the path and soon found that all the trails were marked. We obviously were not following the rules. We started to venture into the park and had to make a concious decision to break all the rules because we clearly knew we could not have the adventure or shoot the shots we were looking to take by obiding by these rules. These are a few of the photos that were the result of a great decision to break the rules.

I have to point out that in this photo above that is the edge of like a 70ft waterfall Justin is shooting near and we both possibly could have died trying to shoot photos in this spot. We climbed down this little valley not even knowing where it would lead until it dead ended here.
